Although I haven't posted in a long, long time, I spend too much time here lately. It has been way too easy to get sucked into comparison and to feel the anxiety of information overload.

So, I'm taking 60 days away from social media to focus on kicking off our home school year, playing with my kids, reading the stack of books I keep putting off, and some fun new projects! See you in October, friends! ❤️

Sometimes you wake up to a vibe. Everyone seems overtired. Maybe someone is having a hard day or is under the weather. Whatever the case, it is okay to kick the homeschool plans to the curb and just be with your kids...

Have an art day like we are today. Play board games. Go to the park. Cuddle up in your bed and read a bunch of books together. Take a hike. Bake some cookies and watch a movie together.

The absolute best part of homeschool is that we GET to do life with our kids. And sometimes one (or all) of us need a break. So let's give ourselves permission to care a little less about checking the boxes and a little more about the hearts we spend our days with. ❤️

Once upon a time, I took a social media break. And I learned a few things...

First of all, it lasted way longer than the month I had planned and was a lot easier than expected. Second, I don't really ever want to ever go back to Facebook, but I think I'll take Instagram back. 😉 And also...it is so hard to start posting again after taking a long break!

So, here I am. After months of slower mornings and baking more and writing a lot, I'm back. ❤️

Day 4-6: Traditions. I love traditions and am working to create new ones and make plenty of space for the old ones that we love so much.

One of our new favorite things that I am hoping becomes a weekly tradition is family art night. We all love to draw and color. So in our slow down, we have been spending one night a week from dinner until bedtime playing music and coloring together. I love it so much.

Day 2...today we baked. We read stories about Italian Christmas traditions and the stories of Old Befana. So we baked breads for our neighbors, just like Old Befana baked things to take to meet Jesus...

And you know what? We learned our neighbor is just getting back to work after being sick. The bread seemed to brighten her day as much as visiting with her brightened ours.

Slow and simple. Handmade and sweet. I think I am going to love this December slowdown quite a bit...❤
